Sweat Stain Removal

It is much easier to pretreat sweaty clothes in order to prevent stains from setting than to attempt to remove stains from laundered clothing. Try one of these methods:

Shortly after you remove your washable shirt or blouse, spray the armpits with white vinegar to help prevent the sweat from setting. The garment can then be laundered as usual whenever you get around to it. Or fill a bucket with warm water, pour in 1 cup white vinegar, and soak the sweaty garment in the vinegar water for a few hours. Then launder the garment as usual.

Apply liquid detergent or dish liquid to the sweaty bits of the garment, then soak the item in warm water for half an hour before throwing it in a hot water wash.

Sweat stains can also be removed with a paste made of meat tenderizer and water. Rub the paste into the stains, then launder the shirt as usual. Meat tenderizer breaks down the proteins in the sweat, making them easier to wash out.

Pour ammonia over the stained area, then rub.
